The Solar Installations - Hamlands

If you walk from Teddington Lock to Riverside Drive, on the left hand side you will see a solar installation. There are a further two on the Ham Lands. People have wondered as to their purpose. They are remote sensing devices. The units cover deep bore holes and are part of the Lower Thames Strategy, the long term plan for managing fluvial flooding between Windsor and Teddington. The units monitor ground water levels which affect the capacity of the river to accommodate water.
